Sound That Speaks to the Soul

How Ansata brought sonic clarity to the spiritual heart of Kanha Shanti Vanam

Setting the Scene

Amid the quiet expanse of nature on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Kanha Shanti Vanam stands as a haven where thousands gather each day to find stillness, purpose, and connection through meditation and spiritual learning. At the center of this vast space stands a 20,000-capacity meditation hall: a stunning architectural feat designed for silence, introspection, and spiritual connection.

Yet for years, the ashram faced a challenge that disrupted that peace — poor sound clarity. The concrete structure and open sides of the hall caused reverberation, making it difficult for devotees to clearly hear Daaji’s teachings and the delicate tones of classical performances. For a place built around mindfulness and stillness, this was more than a technical problem, it was an emotional one.

The Challenge

Kanha’s meditation hall wasn’t designed like a conventional performance venue — it was built to hold silence, not amplify sound. The reflective surfaces, high ceiling, and open-air sides created long reverberation times. The ashram needed a sound system that could deliver clear, natural, and non-intrusive audio across a large space while preserving the spiritual serenity of the hall.

The Solution

Ansata, the exclusive distributor of d&b audiotechnik in India, was invited to design an audio solution that could meet this unique challenge. The Application Specialists Team at Ansata conducted a detailed acoustic evaluation before recommending the d&b T-Series, the smallest line array from the d&b product portfolio, which is known for its compact size, precise directivity, and transparent sound.

To complement the system, Ansata also proposed several acoustic improvements: installing sound-absorbing drapes around the concrete walls, lining the roof to reduce reflections, and carpeting the floor to minimize echo.

The final setup included:

  • 30 d&b T10 line array loudspeakers for main and delay coverage

  • 12 d&b 8S coaxial loudspeakers for front and infill zones

  • 4 d&b E8 weatherproof point sources for the outer periphery

  • 4 d&b E6s as stage fills

  • 4 Vi-GSUB subwoofers for music performances

  • Powered by d&b 40D and 5D amplifiers connected via DS10 network bridges

  • DPA CORE gooseneck microphone for Daaji’s address

Since the system is often operated by volunteers, Ansata ensured that the workflow remained simple through d&b’s R1 Remote software, providing intuitive presets for different event sizes.

“They just turn on the main power, choose a preset, and they’re ready to go,” explains Avaneesh, Product Manager at ANSATA. “Whether it’s a small gathering or a full-capacity event, the setup automatically adapts.”

The Result

The first major event after installation catered to a crowd of over 35,000 people and the difference was immediate.

“It’s made such a big difference,” says Jobin Shyam, FOH Engineer at Kanha. “Everyone could hear clearly, and the sound felt warm and natural. It’s as if the space itself became more peaceful.”

Today, Kanha Shanti Vanam resonates with clear, balanced sound, allowing every word, note, and silence to reach straight to the heart.
