d&b Electroacoustics Seminar and Systems Workshop (Delhi)
Event Details:
Location: Delhi
Venue: TBA
Time: 10 AM to 6 PM
Day 1 – (27th July) Electroacoustics Seminar
Workshop Overview
Requirements
The Electroacoustics seminar is suitable for all levels of experience.
The Goal
To gain further understanding of the principles of electroacoustics for sound system design and engineering. Discover how loudspeakers interact with their environment and how to achieve intelligible sound for every listener. Novices and students will gain new skills, while those with more experience will enjoy refreshing their knowledge.
Content
The focus of the day is on achieving intelligibility. If you’re passionate about sound, you want to deliver clear, intelligible sound to every seat in the house. Most sound engineers have a good knowledge of the electronic signal path but are less sure of the acoustic signal path between the loudspeaker and the listener’s ears.
We will:
Further our understanding of sound fundamentals and explore some physics concepts through experiments and practical demonstrations.
Analyze the addition and subtraction of sound waves, considering the drawbacks and benefits.
Explore how sound behaves in different environments and the factors affecting propagation.
Define the parameters of a well-behaved (and poorly behaved) loudspeaker.
Look at the d&b acoustics calculator and learn how it can help in system designs (participants will receive a copy).
Throughout the session, we will cover essential acoustics and physics concepts. Instead of a “chalk and talk” approach, we will use listening, practical experiments, and discussion rather than a traditional blackboard lecture.
Method
The workshop uses practical examples, encourages participants to share experiences, and promotes active participation.
Duration and Time
One day.
Documentation
Relevant materials will be provided.
Certification
Every participant is presented with a certificate at the end of the event in which they have taken part after filling the feedback form.
Day 2 to 4 – (28th July to 30th July) Systems Workshop
Workshop Overview
Requirements
Participants should be experienced with setting up sound systems and want to develop their knowledge of d&b systems. Please bring a laptop providing an RJ45 network adapter. The laptop must match the system requirements to run the d&b ArrayCalc and d&b R1 Software. Workwear is recommended. Please lookup all system requirements on www.dbaudio.com.
The Goal
This is an introduction to the various loudspeaker series from d&b and their use in the working environment. You will be taught how to apply the systems for optimum results while taking into account safety aspects.
Content
Systems explained in this workshop: V-Series, CCL-Series, T-Series, A-Series
Introduction. We start by positioning the different systems within the d&b product range and defining the recommended applications for them.
Line array theory. This is a theoretical session about the principles of line arrays and describes in a non-mathematical way their behaviour. This unique style of explaining physics makes it easy to adapt the theory to the real world.
Principle considerations of the sound system design. Special solutions implemented into d&b systems – this session goes into the electroacoustical design of loudspeakers taking into account all considerations such as system sizing, special requirements and any limitations. It also investigates the sophisticated setup and configuration possibilities implemented within them.
d&b ArrayCalc planning software. Depending on the considerations made for the sound system the ArrayCalc software will be used to meet the defined specifications. Participants will be guided to work on the software and create their own set-up.
d&b R1 remote control software. Practical solutions to create an R1 user interface tailored for use with the selected system.
Practical. Participants will practically set up and experience the line array systems, sub array and point source systems in different configurations. The full commissioning process will be explained followed by listening tests for each configuration.
d&b ArrayProcessing. In this session, the participants are familiarized with the optional ArrayProcessing feature. Background information on sophisticated filter algorithms is provided and explained using practical examples. Participants are introduced to simulation and calculation processes in ArrayCalc as well as to the transfer of the resulting ArrayProcessing settings using the R1 Remote control software. All workflow steps are presented, from a simulation in ArrayCalc to transfer of the relevant ArrayProcessing data to the amplifiers using the R1 Remote control software. The workshop is supplemented by a listening session featuring different ArrayProcessing application scenarios.
Method
The workshop or seminar content is conveyed in a format that encourages the participants to play an active role, for example exchanging experiences or using practical examples.
Duration
Three days.
Documentation
Every participant is provided with a folder and a USB stick/download link containing all relevant software and documentation.
Certification
Every participant is presented with a certificate at the end of the event in which they have taken part after filling the feedback form.
