This one mic allows you to capture true sound and produce an unforgettable show. Effortlessly. The 2028 Vocal Microphone is designed for the unique challenges of live stage performances. It is a flexible handheld vocal condenser mic, which provides fantastic, transparent vocals to performers from a wide range of markets including live, HoW, broadcast, etc. Use it wired or together with your favorite wireless system, either way, just plug it in and hear the vocals shine like never before.

The 2028 has a supercardioid capsule with DPA’s famously flat off-axis response. Besides a high gain-before-feedback, this characteristic makes it easier for sound engineers to handle bleed from other instruments at close proximity. The 2028 picks up off-axis sounds in a very natural and attenuated way.

Extreme SPL handling

The 2028 has a dynamic range of 117 dB so the mic easily picks up the peaks – due to the fast transient response of the diaphragm. This makes it easier to place the mic in the mix. In fact, the 2028 can handle the extreme SPL of the most dynamic singer, but with its low self-noise, it also sounds great in the hands of softer singers as well.

Easy to EQ

On a live stage, the 2028 will deliver the same open and transparent sound that other DPA microphones deliver. In fact, it needs no (or very little) EQ to sound just like you are standing next to the singer listening to their performance. This allows the singer to use their voice just as if no mic was present, which puts less strain on them. In addition, it allows sound engineers to spend their time shaping the sound experience rather than covering up due to artifacts. This amazing transparency is unique for all DPA vocal condenser mics. The 2028 is available in three versions

  • Wired XLR type with handle
  • Wireless adapter for Shure (SL1 adapter, which also suits Sony and Lectrosonics)
  • Wireless adapter for Sennheiser (SE2 adapter, series 2000, 6000, 9000) – will be available at a later date.

The 2028 Vocal Microphone also comes with a newly-designed mic clip.

Proper hand placement on a vocal mic

A handheld microphone is a microphone like all others. However, how you hold the microphone affects the sound. Some use this to their advantage; others don’t realize this is the case. This article explains how your sound may change depending on how you hold the microphone.
